Introduction to JAVA Programming
Specific Objectives:
Use Sun Microsystems Java 2 Software Development Kit (SDK) to build and execute programs Compare Java to C++ and other languages Learn about Object Oriented Programming and Design Use Java's primitive data types to create variables, constants, and methods Control the flow of execution in methods using both selection structures and iteration structures Use operators and expressions to perform calculations and typecasting Program applications and applets Use Java's Exception Handling Architecture to detect and process errors Use the Abstract Windowing Toolkit (AWT) and swing to create a Graphical User Interface (GUI) Use Inheritance and interfaces to create class hierarchies and promote class reuse Use access modifiers to control class and property visibility Use the packages and interfaces provided by the Java Class Library to create the methods of a class Understand the concepts of abstraction and encapsulation Learn some fundamentals of UML and Design Patterns |
