STATE COLLEGE — Medical Assistant and Administrative Professional students at South Hills School of Business & Technology’s main campus in State College attended a workshop aimed at helping them establish functional user accounts on LinkedIn, a networking social media platform for professionals seeking employment and the recruiters looking for them. The workshop was presented by South Hills alumna, Paula Colletti, who is now a Human Resources Generalist at Eclipse Resources in Centre County. Ms. Colletti is a graduate of the Administrative Professional program at South Hills.
Ms. Colletti introduced the students to LinkedIn and guided them through the process of setting up a new account. She offered advice for creating strong headlines, writing effective summaries, and taking professional profile images. She also addressed students’ privacy concerns and offered tips for helping them determine what type of and how much information to share.
The workshop concluded with Colletti giving a demonstration of how to use LinkedIn’s many features, including the built-in email system, the newsfeed, and the resume uploader.
