In 2020, South Hills School of Business & Technology turns 50 years old, marking a half-century since co-founders, Maralyn J. and S. Paul Mazza II, opened the doors of “South Hills Secretarial School” in State College in 1970. The first class had just seven students, and the school offered one program.
Today, South Hills has campuses in State College, PA and Altoona, PA and offers Specialized Associate Degree and Diploma programs in technology, healthcare, business, graphic arts, and criminal justice, as well as Lifelong Learning classes. South Hills remains privately-owned and is accredited through Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
Since its inception, South Hills has been focused on providing students with the skills and experience needed to meet the needs of local employers and the demands of the Central PA job market. While the curriculum and programs have changed over the years, the high quality of hands-on instruction offered and the personalized approach to students make the school unique.
South Hills School of Business & Technology's mission is “Teaching people…Changing lives,” and to date, more than 6,000 students have graduated and moved on to build successful careers. The school is looking forward to many more years of educating new generations of people to become "thinkers, builders, makers, and doers."
During the anniversary year, South Hills will host events to celebrate its past, present, and future, including:
