STATE COLLEGE — Sporadic bouts of rain showers did not shut down the third annual Food Festival held on the lawn at the State College campus on June 16. The aroma of creative cooking wafted through the air as hundreds of guests took in the sights & tastes of the various food vendors at the annual food event. Always a highlight throughout the day is the cooking demonstrations that were given by a number of top chefs from local restaurants. Musicians also entertained the crowds throughout the afternoon and added a special touch to the day’s summer activities.

Paul & Maralyn Mazza, founders of South Hills, made it a part of the school’s mission to serve the community, and the Food Festival does that each year as it is run in conjunction with Happy Valley Culinary Week. Lori Miller, director of visitor and member services for the Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitors Center stated, “Culinary Week is a seven-day celebration of the art of cooking, local foods and the chefs who prepare them.” The Food Festival is always a lively event that supplies plenty of snacking and sampling for food connoisseurs of central Pennsylvania.
