South Hills Community News Release
STATE COLLEGE and ALTOONA, PA — Members of the various student clubs and service organizations at South Hills School of Business & Technology were recently honored by faculty and staff at the annual Student Appreciation Luncheon. Each campus held its own event.
These students are the driving force behind the various charity fundraisers held at South Hills throughout the school year. To express appreciation to them for their efforts, staff and faculty take a day to honor them to lunch and present them with awards and certificates of recognition for the countless volunteer hours they’ve given during the year.
The Altoona Campus honored 52 of its students who are active members of the Community Outreach and Public Service (C.O.P.S.) Club, Information Technology (IT) Club, Health Careers Club, Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), and Student Forum.
The State College Main Campus invited special guest, Gene Weller of Allstate, to speak to students. He has been giving back to the community by running the Centre County Toys for Tots program for the past 33 years. This year alone, he rallied the community to collect over 6,500 toys, and he help provide $40,000 in Allstate Foundation grants to help families in need.
