South Hills Relies on Local Employers for Help to Prepare Its Students for the Workforce

South Hills Community News Release

LEWISTOWN, PA – Each Specialized Associate Degree program at South Hills School of Business & Technology has a Program Advisory Committee (PAC) that is made up of practitioners in their respective fields. South Hills selects a diverse representation of employers, internship site supervisors, and South Hills alumni to serve as PAC members. The meetings are held twice yearly to obtain feedback and ideas for improvement to the program curriculum, learning resources, equipment and facilities, and program objectives.

Barbara Harer, Director of the Lewistown Campus, added, “Not only do the PAC members provide us with timely industry information, but they also serve an active part of the school. Important decisions about our programs are based on recommendations from our PAC members, making them a valuable part of the Lewistown Campus.”

South Hills strives to involve the PAC members as much as possible by welcoming them to view capstone project presentations, asking them to serve as guest speakers in our classes, and inviting them to conduct mock interviews with our students.
