South Hills Community News Release

ALTOONA, PA – Criminal Justice and Medical Assistant students from South Hills School of Business & Technology had the opportunity to tour the Cambria County Prison in Ebensburg, PA.

Counselor Smick led the students throughout the facility where they were able to see the different parts of the prison and explained how each section of the facility is used. The students also had the opportunity to see the different types of security measures used throughout the prison. Smick also explained the different prisoner classification procedures and explained how they deal with disciplinary matters.

South Hills Instructor, Patty Helbig, added, “Counselor Smick did a wonderful job answering all of the students’ questions and explaining the different procedures that are in place at the prison. This tour was a great opportunity for our students to see the type of environment they could potentially be working in if they decide to pursue a career in corrections or within the prison system.”
