South Hills Students Prepare For A Successful Job SearchApril 16, 2019
Faculty Spotlight on Jenny Charney, Administrative Professional Program Instructor
1What’s your position at South Hills and how long have you worked here?
2What do you like most about your job?
It's hard to pick one specific aspect of this job; but, the instructors and the staff in this building make up an incredibly supportive atmosphere for the students. There's never a time when they can't talk to someone and it makes for a very fulfilling career to be part of that environment.
3Do you have any hidden talents or superpowers?
DIY projects! Last summer I bought a $5 dresser and turned it into a gardening table and I turned my daughter's changing table into a bench. I guess I have an eye for re-purposing and I really enjoy doing it.
4What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I love to cook and I'm always making up recipes in my kitchen. My daughter and I also enjoy hiking when the weather cooperates. We visit the local state parks and explore the trails.
5What’s your favorite TV show/favorite movie?
I don't watch a lot of TV but I always find my way to a good documentary on Netflix.
6What are you reading or what are your favorite books?
I'm in my car a lot so I've become a big fan of audio books. I'm currently listening to Michelle Obama's book, Becoming, and it's fantastic. Within the last few years, I've listened to the You are a Badass books by Jen Sincero and would recommend them to everyone.
7What’s your favorite vacation spot & why?
My favorite vacation spot is anywhere I can relax. I enjoy the beach, but I also enjoy camping and hiking with my daughter.
8What’s your favorite food?
I consider myself an equal opportunity lover of food, but if I HAD to pick, I'd likely say Thai food.
9Do you have a favorite quote?
“It is what it is.”
10What’s on your “Bucket List?”
My bucket list item is visiting Paris. It's a place that I've always wanted to go and I'd like to take my daughter there when she gets a little bit older.
