STATE COLLEGE, PA — Two students of South Hills School of Business & Technology’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program were recently named recipients of a prestigious award given annually in the field of cardiac sonography. Keirra Stahl and Kaylee Weaver, both 3rd-year DMS students, were awarded the Alan D. Waggoner Student Scholarship Award from the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE).
This award was established in 2001 in recognition of the professional achievements of Alan D. Waggoner, MHS, RDCS, FASE, as well as to honor his service to ASE. The Alan D. Waggoner Student Scholarship Award is given to students enrolled in (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) CAAHEP-accredited sonography programs who exhibit a passion for the discipline of echocardiography and demonstrate leadership abilities. Recipients receive $1,000 to go towards their educational costs, complimentary registration for ASE’s Annual Scientific Sessions, and reimbursement of up to $500 for travel to the annual meeting. This year's meeting will be held in June in Denver, Colorado.
