Hear From Our Graduates

“I went to another school before I went to South hills. I was there for a few years, bouncing from major to major. I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted to do.

After that I was working three different jobs .I had no free time. . I knew I needed to make a change.

I decided to try South Hills because I had a lot of friends that went here, and they  all had positive experiences. They  talked about the faculty and the other students, and just how great their time here was , it really sounded like a place I wanted to experience.

What surprised me when I came to South Hills most was the faculty  as far as the experience that they all had. There were people from corrections, people from law enforcement, and people who had taught previously at other universities. It was a much broader spectrum in the criminal justice program than I expected it to be.

It’s (South Hills) college level curriculum. It is as difficult, if not more difficult in some aspects, than other schools I’ve gone to, because they don’t really branch into the elective classes. Everything we took was for a purpose.

If I had to talk to somebody who was thinking about coming to South Hills about this program, the biggest part was the family that we became by the end of that second year. When we started off, I knew nobody in that class. It only took,  a few days to make some friends, and then by the end of that second year we were a tight-knit family. It’s just the bond that I formed with a lot of the people in that class I had never felt anywhere else.”

“In my role as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, I recognize the importance of education. I acquired the skills necessary to succeed in the Criminal Justice field through the South Hills Criminal Justice Program. The program strengthened my resume, gave me confidence, and friends with like-minded interests. I strongly recommend this program to anyone who is considering it, as my career in public service has proved to be more rewarding than I could have ever imagined.”

Bry Metz - Criminal Justice Graduate

“I was looking for a career opportunity in a field where I could challenge myself every day.  Corrections affords you the chance to work with people at one of the lowest points in their lives and yet possibly still help them recognize that they can write a new chapter in their unfinished life. My South Hills Specialized Associates Degree gave me the foundation and the experience that I needed to get started in this great career path. Thanks South Hills!”
