About this Event:
What is this Event?
All are welcome, with this event focusing on celebration, career advice, and encouraging messages from women in tech helping encourage other girls to pursue technology. We will have guest speakers from the fields of cybersecurity, software engineering, cloud, and information technology.
We can share our experiences, learn some tech together, and also get career advice for girls interested in technology.
It’s free and we will have a few “prizes” so invite any of your friends that would be interested! Whether you’re a seasoned hacker or a total newbie, there’s a place for you here. Mark your calendars, setup your machines, and get ready to dive into the exciting world of tech.

Altoona, PA — May 13, 2025 — South Hills School of Business & Technology is proud to present Girlsin Tech, a dynamic and empowering event designed to introduce high school girls to the exciting world of technology careers. The event will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PMat the South Hills Altoona Campus.
This half-day event will feature engaging presentations from accomplished women in tech, including professionals from Netflix, VMware, and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, who will share personal stories and career insights from their journeys in the tech industry.
Following the speaker sessions, participants will take part in a hands-on technical activity and enjoy a casual lunch with time for open discussion and mentorship opportunities with the presenters.
Girls in Tech is presented by South Hills School of Business & Technology in collaboration with Remake Learning Days and Pa. Career Backpack, and aims to spark curiosity, build confidence, and encourage young women to explore a future in the ever-expanding world of technology.
Registration is now open at www.southhills.edu/girls–in–tech. Participation is free and open to high school girls interested in learning more about opportunities in STEM.
“There’s a place for every young woman in the tech world, whether her interests lie in programming, cybersecurity, digital media, or data science,” said Guido Santella, Technology Instructor. “Our goal is to make those possibilities real and accessible.”
