Business Administration—Management & Marketing

The Business Administration—Management & Marketing program at South Hills will provide you with the tools and ability to become an indispensable asset to a company, as well as the leadership and entrepreneurial skills to start your own business. As a student of the BAMM program, you will learn marketing and communication skills, how to create effective advertising and social media campaigns, develop web sites, study selling and purchasing principles, and receive hands-on training in the latest software platforms.
Our BAMM graduates excel in career choices including Sales Manager, Purchasing Agent, Social Media Marketing Executive, Real Estate Agent, Sales & Marketing Specialist, Store or Property Manager, and Business Owner/Entrepreneur.

BAMM Graduates Can Earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Only Two Years with St. Francis University!
South Hills students graduating with the Associate in Specialized Business Degree in Business Administration – Management and Marketing are eligible for a bachelor degree completion program in Organizational Leadership or Management through St. Francis University Office of Adult Degree & Continuing Studies.
Finish your Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership or Bachelor of Science degree in Management in only two years or less through online, weekend, and evening classes in State College or Altoona. South Hills students will be guaranteed acceptance with a 2.0 GPA and 64 credits from our BAMM program will automatically transfer into the program. The customizable curriculum allows you to take as few or as many classes as you want so you can balance work, family, and life. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. This program can also be completed fully online.

BAMM Program Coordinator / Full-time Instructor
State College Main Campus
Mike Gates, Program Coordinator for Business Administration: Management & Marketing, has been an instructor at South Hills since 2002.
Mike is a graduate of Penn State University, and served as Vice-President of Sales for Schoolwires, a nationally recognized website developer for K-12 school systems, along with being a market consultant for Sallie Mae. He brings his leadership skills, experiences and expertise from the business sector to the classroom. In 2011 he was given the Outstanding Educator of the Year award by the Pennsylvania Association of Private School Administrators for his creative teaching style and classroom innovations that challenge students to reach their greatest potential. In addition, Mike Gates has been involved in serving the community through assisting with Special Olympics and the Big Brother Program.
State College Main Campus
Eleanor Martin first joined the South Hills Faculty in August of 1982. She became the first Director of the Marketing Management program, having added Marketing to the Management only curriculum. She left in 1989 to stay home with a growing family. In 2004 Eleanor returned to substitute teach for nine years, being known as the “Happy Teacher”. Eleanor rejoined the faculty in August of 2013 to teach part-time.
Eleanor attended Kent State University, and attained a BS in Business Management. During her non-South Hills years she was involved with the Childbirth Education Association of State College. She was President for five years, Teacher Coordinator for five years and elected Volunteer of the Year twice. Eleanor taught hundreds of couples Prepared Childbirth over her 23 years as instructor.
Eleanor has also been a many year volunteer with PAWS of Centre County. She believes strongly in volunteerism and helping the community.
Patricia Helbig has been an instructor at South Hills since 2001. Patricia is a former correctional counselor and at-risk-youth therapist. In addition to serving as the Director of Education for the Altoona campus, she teaches Business Administration—Management & Marketing classes and serves as an internship coordinator. Patricia also teaches the general education courses Human Relations, Psychology, and Professional Development.
Patricia’s research interests include inbound marketing strategies, organizational behavior, employment law, effective teaching, and the professional development of teachers. She received certification in inbound marketing strategic planning from Hubspot.
Emily Wible, Internship Advisor and Instructor for the Business Administration—Management & Marketing program, has been an instructor at South Hills School of Business & Technology since 2010.
Emily received a BA from Central Pennsylvania College where she graduated with honors. She also has an AS in Marketing from Central Pennsylvania College. Emily has worked as an Online Sales Consultant for the local State College newspaper where she received a wide range of sales and marketing training.
Emily has started her own craft and décor business named Em’s Cozy Corner in 2015 and plans to continue growing her hobby into a successful small business.
Michelle James has been an instructor at South Hills School since 2014.
Michelle received a BA from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida where she graduated with Honors in Business Management and was awarded Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She continued her education, graduating with an MS in Integrated Marketing Communications from Easter Michigan University and was awarded a Microsoft Echo Award in 2010.
Her love of entrepreneurship has led her to successfully own and operate several small businesses including a Caribbean restaurant and bakery. In addition to business ownership Michelle worked in business development for a nationwide marketing firm and retail management.
In 2011, Michelle relocated from St. Petersburg, Florida to the Bellefonte area with her family.
